Gilded Acanthus Coffered Ceiling Detail

The ceiling is fitted with 3 foot coffers elaborately trimmed in a combination of sculptured acanthus and egg & dart cornice moldings that are wood-grained and gilded. As an added detail, the beams are trimmed with a delicate lambs tongue panel molding and rosettes. The ceiling is finished with custom designed raised plaster corner motifs then double glazed in antique gold.

Staircase Installation
 Chair rail and panel molding are installed in a staircase, then the wall and molding are painted and glazed with a wood grain texture to match the existing Chestnut column and paneling.  The difference between the real wood and faux wood is imperceptible.

  After Mantle Detail
The dilemma we faced was in how to create a beautiful fireplace surround and mantle without getting into construction code issues. We accomplished this by incorporating the existing molding surround into our design and expanding the face of the wall.  Our signature red damask ceiling design fulfilled our clients wish to have red somewhere in the room while holding to a palette of umber and gold in the richly plastered walls, rubbed moldings and hand painted frieze.
 

Gilded Ceiling Medallion
Ceiling medallion painted and glazed an antique ivory then gilded with 22kt gold powder is a magnificent centerpiece for the French Provincial chandelier.
 

 

Crown Jewel
A dramatic and opulent entrance is achieved on this 18 foot foyer ceiling. The 12 foot molding surround and the center medallion are fauxed and gilded. The rich and detailed painting in between creates a field of red and gold damask and a jewel-like centerpiece.

Ornamental Motifs with Gold Border and Pinstripe
A 30 inch Acanthus Medallion at center, this 8 foot square hand-painted ceiling is framed out in panel molding with radius corners.

  
 

Foyer Panel Molding
Panel moldings and a subtle paint-on-paint wall finish lend warmth and grace to an 18 foot atrium.  Note how the split curved panel moldings echo the archway openings.

A 4-inch acanthus crown molding on an 8-foot wall sets off a rich red interior.
